does anyone know a external hard drive that you can just plug into the ps3 and it works if not how about steps to make it work im trying to put many video files on it the hard drive is about 1 tb large any help is appreciated

I had a few problems making my spare 500gig external drive work with the ps3, ill give you a few hints to make it work...
Format Drive....including ALL partitions (ps3 only reads 1 partition...this is why so many people have problems)
Download....

Use swiss knife to create 1 volume that is the size of your HD(using windows to format the drive wont work because it'll create a 32gig partitions with the rest of your drive empty.(which the ps3 will never work with)
After all this I backed up my ps3 onto the external drive....swapped out the 40 gig for a 1TB....restored the backup and it worked perfectly
